getting settled in

first of all, i want to say a huge CONGRATS to my friend sarah and her new hubby john on their wedding last weekend!!! i was so sad i couldn't make it but i'm going to have to start getting used to that feeling living so far away now.  the pictures were so great and it looked beautiful and FUN!

so here in savannah, things are going well.  brett is doing in processing this week and then he starts his job....which will bring him to mississippi next week....and so it begins.  i'm actually pretty jealous that he'll be so close to louisiana :(
at the moment i'm about to start some roman shades for our windows that look out back. i wanted the pottery barn ones in wispy white but they didn't cover the whole window and that was important to brett.  hmm. well i found this great linen-y stripe fabric and hancock fabric that i'll make the shades for the back and little curtains for the sidelights next to the front door.  now hurley won't be able to see everything that goes on outside and bark at it :)
i'm liking the neighborhood a lot....there's a walking path all down the main boulevard and a loop around a pond that i run and walk hurley.
but i digress....i'm trying to figure out what to do with the massive wall that our TV is on.  maybe a gallery of black frames we have with a few mirrors thrown in???  all these home decor blog really got my creativity flowing because instead of buying all new lamps, i'm going to spray paint brett's boring brown lamp!  maybe a new shade and it will be the perfect accent to our new grey bedroom!!!
i also need some ideas for our entryway.  the open floor plan makes it a little more difficult but i think a small glass table with a lamp (i have my eye on one from homegoods that i LOVE) and a couple accessories would be nice.  maybe even a small chair or bench seat???
area rugs are giving me a headache lately...they are SO expensive.  emily clark (a supermom/decor genius) wrote me and said she hasn't paid over $150 for hers but it takes time.  maybe that's my problem.  i'm trying to get it all done quickly.  i have found some but they're over $400!  we are having christmas here so i would like some cohesiveness by that time.
here are some pictures if you have any suggestions!  xoxo
p.s. excuse the Hurley toys all around the house :)
