IT'S HERE!!! Christmas is HERE!!!!!!

ok so i know its only the 22nd but its basically here. (btw, i do this often..."we're basically there" on I10 at tanger outlets heading to BR;  "you're pretty much done" to brett when he still has 1/4 of the yard to cut...you get the idea).  BUT, it does feel like its here b/c brett is coming home tonight and all the house guests arrive tomorrow!!! omg Omg OMG!  i'm only slightly panicked on the inside.  all crafts are COMPLETE...well, the ones i started....and now i just need to vacuum and sweep... D-O-N-E! oh, except for poop patrol in the backyard. ewww...maybe i'll leave that for brett tomorrow, hehehee.
i'll be posting pictures (finally, i know right?!) of our house!  i'm so excited about it but really finding a passion for decorating that i constantly think about it.  and stalk the decor blogs.
stay tuned.....
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!

25 days...

well, not exactly.  because our xmas guests will be coming in approx. 22 days which means LOTS to do in a short amount of time!!!  the in-laws are coming to us this year so obviously i feel the need to get our house so warm and cozy and christmas-y and perfect because that's me.  i think we're doing a fake tree this year because brett thinks real ones are poisonous to dogs?!?!?!  any truth to that???  well, our pup tends to eat plants and a dead pup during xmas wouldn't be ideal so fake it is.  fine by me...less pine needles i have to sweep up.  btw, i'll be doing all the pre-guest clean up b/c brett will be in training. ugh.

i still want something for the entryway...i did buy a garden stool in white...even though some interior designers say they're getting a little old.  i LOVE them!  the homegoods employees see me frequently looking for an entryway table plus other stuff!!  i just can't seem to find the right table.  so frustrating.  BUT, my dining room chairs are in motion.  distressed grey frame with black and grey circle fabric. LOVE!  thanks to megan at My Louise in Baton Rouge, i'm going to be obsessed with my dining room shortly.  go visit her store!  i'll post pictures of the house tomorrow...we're hanging a couple more pictures tonight.

i still want to make pillows for the living room.  we have the blah pillows that came with the couch that are the same fabric as the couch.  i just need fabric.  has anyone seen Guililana and Bill?  btw, i love them!  i want their book too.  but they have these neat white pillows with a black border and black block letter initial in the middle.  its so simple but classy.  i want.  for the bedroom i have euro pillows and they just need covers for them.  our walls are grey, trim white, duvet white, sheets green and accent lamp of seafoam green!  hahhaa  brett wasn't a huge fan but it looks great!  i want a print for the euros i just need to find it.  and did i tell yall about the bamboo directors chair i found at homegoods???? L.O.V.E.  sometimes i don't know why things speak to me but this did. i need a throw pillow on it to soften it up a bit.

other than boring house stuff...not much is going on around here.  we've been exploring savannah a bit more. restaurants, antique shops....i'm just waiting for visitors.....anyone?????  anyone?

getting settled in

first of all, i want to say a huge CONGRATS to my friend sarah and her new hubby john on their wedding last weekend!!! i was so sad i couldn't make it but i'm going to have to start getting used to that feeling living so far away now.  the pictures were so great and it looked beautiful and FUN!

so here in savannah, things are going well.  brett is doing in processing this week and then he starts his job....which will bring him to mississippi next week....and so it begins.  i'm actually pretty jealous that he'll be so close to louisiana :(
at the moment i'm about to start some roman shades for our windows that look out back. i wanted the pottery barn ones in wispy white but they didn't cover the whole window and that was important to brett.  hmm. well i found this great linen-y stripe fabric and hancock fabric that i'll make the shades for the back and little curtains for the sidelights next to the front door.  now hurley won't be able to see everything that goes on outside and bark at it :)
i'm liking the neighborhood a lot....there's a walking path all down the main boulevard and a loop around a pond that i run and walk hurley.
but i digress....i'm trying to figure out what to do with the massive wall that our TV is on.  maybe a gallery of black frames we have with a few mirrors thrown in???  all these home decor blog really got my creativity flowing because instead of buying all new lamps, i'm going to spray paint brett's boring brown lamp!  maybe a new shade and it will be the perfect accent to our new grey bedroom!!!
i also need some ideas for our entryway.  the open floor plan makes it a little more difficult but i think a small glass table with a lamp (i have my eye on one from homegoods that i LOVE) and a couple accessories would be nice.  maybe even a small chair or bench seat???
area rugs are giving me a headache lately...they are SO expensive.  emily clark (a supermom/decor genius) wrote me and said she hasn't paid over $150 for hers but it takes time.  maybe that's my problem.  i'm trying to get it all done quickly.  i have found some but they're over $400!  we are having christmas here so i would like some cohesiveness by that time.
here are some pictures if you have any suggestions!  xoxo
p.s. excuse the Hurley toys all around the house :)

Inspiration continued....

this is the dining room inspiration....i got the color.  Glidden Peacock blue and i'm SOOO excited.  painters are coming saturday morning to do office and dining room.  kitchen is on sunday.  pictures will be up soon to show progress.  i might need to put a little more accent colors than the above picture but its definitely a starting point. and it looks like the floors are brown so if i just get a light colored area rug i can use a brown table and brown chairs, right?!?!?!  question: do all the chairs need to be completely on the dining rug?  same question for living room...i don't want our sofa legs scratching the wood floors!

Reunited and it feels so GOOD!

i know, its been awhile....but i've been crazy busy.  the wedding, trip to rhode island then i had to work in north carolina and now we're off back and forth to savannah to meet painters and prep our house for MOVE IN!  i will def. do a post about the wedding after this...but in the front of my mind is house decor.  so i'm jumping right in.  we're going to start by painting the kitchen/breakfast nook, dining room and office.  the office we already know....greyish blue with a black desk for brett and all his army medals framed on the walls.
 Office inspiration.

even though we decided not to tackle the master yet, i found a picture that i LOVE.  we have a sleigh bed in dark brown so it won't be a direct translation but inspiration.

bedroom.

living room inspiration.  we're keeping the walls their color of
vanilla-y beige. and our couches are mocha beige like this but a smidge darker so its doable.

i'm LOVING this dining table.  our floors are brown hardwood and kitchen cabinets are dark cherry wood so i wanted to break up the darkness.  i think this is PERFECTIONNNNNNN!  my friend megan has a store in BR and she refinishes furniture.  she has these four dining chairs that she said she would recover them when i decided what i'm doing with the room.  possible wall color is peacock blue/tealish????  i tend to gravitate towards cooler colors...why is that? maybe b/c I'M so COOOOL!?!?!!   hahaha jk

For the kitchen/nook, i'm thinking a soft-ish grey....i don't know why. i just can't come up with another color that i'm ok with painting it.  hmmmmmm.......

ok and here are some items i'd like to incorporate somewhere in the house...i just love them :)

is that ok?    k, just checkin'.   i'm got to be sure to not to get TOO girly (which isn't me) but rather too Anthropologie b/c that's not brett.  it is OUR house....i guess.  the tough part is implementing all these ideas.  any help???
but do you know what's keeping me up at night.....BLINDS!  i don't know which kind of blind to put in each room....i know its bizarre but new construction doesn't come with any so we have to get them all.
here's the link to all the house pics on kodak if anyone wants to check it out!

tell me what you think or any ideas.   k bye!

Ba-Nanas

i get so inspired and creative while watching rachel zoe project, right???  and they make me laugh with all the drama over a broken heel or a photoshoot with an oversize chair!!  oh.....my....god.  HAAA!
speaking of creativity...i'm ready to decorate our house!!!!  the builder accepted our offer.....serious.  now we're getting allllllll the paperwork printed out, faxed, overnighted, etc and now we just have to wait for inspection and CLOSING!
we're getting all sorts of wedding presents delivered (thankyouthankyouthankyou) and i'm trying to picture things in the new house.  this is the dinnerware i decided on....
http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=482344&PseudoCat=se-xx-xx-xx.esn_results
paired with this in cobalt....
http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=180649&CategoryID=39171
very spanish which is not the overall look of the house but that's ok right????  someone please tell me your plates don't have to match the decor of the house!?  brett made me question it asking if i would still love this in 10 or 15 years and i was like, i mean, i don't know!!!!  all our serveware is great white from pottery barn which is timeless and will go with above dinnerware.  and all the pretty food i make will brighten up the white, RIGHTTT!?!?!?!  brett is expecting LOTS of dinner parties after all the excuses of why we need all this serveware and plates and bowls and 3 tier appetizer thingys.  hehehe  love this.
oh, i have pictures of the house but can't seem to find brett's camera right now but next time i will, promise. we've decided we need: dining table/chairs, breakfast nook table for 4-pub height, maybe a bar of some sort, a desk with storage for brett's office, bookshelves for the tons of books he has, and loads of colorful decor :)
and i haven't mentioned our little sweet darlin' hurley in a while...he's doing well but i hope he makes the transition a little more smoothly than the last move.
ummm....did anyone else realize that i'm getting married in like....2 weeks!?!?!?!? we've got some last minute things to worry about....like is there going to be a hurricane!!!  but i have faith that if we are prepared, everything will be fine :)  cross your fingers and pray with me please.

grown up??? where?????

we're trying to buy a house...WHAAAA?????  its so confusing.  i mean, how did someone come up with all these terms and sayings and abbrevs and papers and processes that make this so freaking difficult to buy a home!  brett and i went to savannah last weekend after we officially got his orders for 2-3 years in SAVANNAH!!!  and usaa hooked us up with an awesome agent, judy.  judy is my new BFF..actually she and brett are phone buddies....b/c he's in class and can talk at the drop of a hat, while i'm at work dealing with drama.  so judy and brett have been negotiating and scheming for a few days and we put in an offer (quicker than we thought) b/c another couple was looking at OUR house.....the nerve right??  RIGHT???  that's MY house...get away! and brett is pretty excited about my decorating..even though he's afraid of color, he's ready for a cohesive, beautiful, look at what my wife did kind of house!  'member that rug i posted a couple posts ago....TOTALLY getting that!  love it too much to pass it up!
i'm thinking vanilla-y beige in the living room, mocha dining room, greyish blue office for brett....can't decide about kitchen.  we do have a breakfast nook...i wouldn't mind an amazing wallpaper but that scares me....not sure i won't screw that up or accidentally glue my hand to the wall.  there are 4 bedrooms....one will be set up guest room, one an office and one probably storage.  depending on what we get from registry i'll decide out our bedroom later.  any ideas though?  i need to start SERIOUSLY searching mags for inspiration...maybe while i'm on my flight home this weekend for the SHOWERRRRRRR  i can research!   i'll post pics of house and update from shower when i get home!

p.s. i told work that brett got a job and we were moving.....not as dramatic as i thought it would be.  boss lady said she would try her hardest to fit my in somewhere in savannah location...keep your little digits crossed!!!!!!

Time's-a-ticking

but not fast enough!!!  even though its already mid july, it seems like the wedding is CREEEEEEPING here.  like a kid walking to the principals office, dragging feet, taking the long way creeping along. i seriously don't know how some people do it and have a year+ engagement.  we do probably have some last minute planning things to go over and over again to make sure the day goes smoothly, i still want it to be here NOW!  we're starting to get RSVPs back and that makes me excited every time i check theknot.com and mom has updated the latest and greatest.  we even got our first wedding gift.....can i get a HELL YEAH for gift cards!?!?!?!  Thank you Varnados.

did i mention i have great friends!?!?!?  thank you to those people who came and made my bachelorette party so fun....and sunday the worst day of my life.  :)  (we're soooo not in college anymore ladies and gents.)  the award of TROOPER OF THE YEAR goes to........AMY CRISTINA MOLINA!!!!!!  this little preggo put on the whole weekend...and on saturday, this sally sober was working the dance floor. LOVE IT. and the beach was Fine people.  like, no smell, 2 tar balls, we got in the water FINE!  please go support your gulf coast.

on a different note but speaking of pregnancy (a few sentences back...) jessica's blog the cycle+2....love.  i wish i had more to read but having twins makes you kinda busy.  BUT, thank you to jessica for being R-E-A-L!  i love how she says the honest truth even though its not what you are supposed to say/hear.  like, yes, babies change the relationship of a husband/wife....you just have to work in quality time.  yes, you can still have a life and take vacations when you have kids...you just have to alter it a little bit. and no, you don't feel this instant LOVE the second they come out.  but it grows from minute one.  love her. love it.

lastly, on a superficial note, the kardashians have a skincare line. am i crazy for wanting to try it?????  they seriously have the.best.skin.  why can't i?!?!  its only $30 to try it. and i can send it back if it gives me hives!  i'll think about it more and wait for comments.  i'll probably be waiting a while.......

Sum-a, Sum-a, Summmatime!!

its hot.  scorching hot.  i didn't think anywhere was as hot as louisiana but georgia is surprisingly just as steamy as my home plate. good thing i'm working 50 hour weeks, right?  RIGHT?!?!  it's going well...i just thought my extra hours were ending this past week...but something came up and now i'm back to the long hours, no lunch break, really friggin' tired every morning days.  i don't even have time to SPEND all this moula i'm making.  my BEACH bachelorette party will be a NICEEEEEEEEE break and vaca.  unfortunately i'll be driving by myself (8 hours whaaat?) but i'll make the best of it.  Road trip!!!!

i do want to thank everyone again for making our couples shower such an amazing experience.  it actually started to feel like my wedding.  EEEEK!!!!  did i mention i was psyched to be getting all these neat pottery barn serving dishes!!?!?!??  i can-not wait to have a party...or just make new augusta friends so i can entertain and use these goodies!
speaking of.....the ericksons are finally getting together with the leblancs.....ashley and keith that is....and of course little ian!  my schedule has been hectic and brett's is usually but we're going over for a bbq today and i'm so happyyyyyy!

speaking of happy.....invitations look soooooo good and mom should be finishing the addresses soon.  be looking in your mailboxes for these puppies!  so cute and nontraditional don't you just love it?!?!?!?!
and as if the wedding wasn't enough to worry about....i bought a new cleanser from sephora ("its all natural and will be WONDERFUL for your sensitive skin lindsey" says sales girl) and what does it do?  Hives.  with a capital H. and everything else i put on my face for at least a week burned like Hades.  it sort of looks like i'm blushing....all day. lucky for me, i have the Leslie Kernan who is my face guru and will fix me right up for that little thing called my wedding in a short 2 months!  Loves her!!!

UNDER 90!

Days, that is.  UNDER 90 days people!!!!  ho-ly cow. i'm not outwardly freaking out but inside (and as i lay in bed at night) i run over and over the things i need to do, haven't done, want to do, and things i want to change.  and on top of that, i'm really having to step up at work and put in extra hours so i feel like i can't get ANYTHING done and i'm pooped :)  oh well, i know it'll come together.  i had my dress fitting so now i just need to find my jewelry.  i had some earrings but may be changing to a statement necklace.  just need to find something like this but in coral:
https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg22_rjcaqXyXFRzbp4ITSS_UjWS5ByFllHDUOzeZekDwAkV1eqhzUDgeu-olzT76VoAxekpZUjs91H8RjxogJRseNRHPz8wzSApN59-jYV2g842ZEmK_nbL6YWy67RUwpi-T-z_l7UBTg/s400/mendes.jpg

Sorry, i blogger wouldn't let me upload the picture.  so what do you think????

on another note, THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU to everyone for making our couples shower such a wonderful experience.  it definitely didn't feel like my wedding until i sat on that chair and had everyone watching brett and i open presents.  and then coming home with (not all) them!  yippppppeeee!  i'm getting super duper excited about our big day.  i just hope everything looks as good as it does in my head!  hahahaha

if anyone (sarah, mom) didn't know, i started a new job!!  Ideal Image is a laser hair removal medical spa.  its totally different from what i'm used to doing but its super fast paced and different most days and i get along with everyone really well.  and i've picked everything up pretty fast if i do say so myself ;)
i've been putting in extra hours b/c one of the girls is getting married which = tired lindsey!!!!
well, til next time.....

The Ever growing TO DO list

i am thankful for my mother who keeps reminding me i do have a wedding to do list...and i keep forgetting about it.  with starting this new job, training in atlanta, etc, i got sidetracked and stopped doing things for the wedding.  but no more!  we booked ceremony music, ordered invitations, about to book and finalize catering and flowers, and booked photog!  wahooey!  i'm starting to get excited about our couples shower b/c its actually starting to feel like ours and not some other wedding i'm in!!!

on another note, can i just say i really really really really want a house of my own to decorate like i see all over the internet!?!?!

i mean how GREAAAAT is this room....so eclectic but totally meshes well together.  i'm having trouble with the color nazi (a.k.a. brett) so it seems like i'll have to make small changes with color and hopefully he won't notice????  anyone else have a colorphobic housemate?
i saw this rug in west elm and LOVED it....

of course brett said he absolutely didn't like the yellow one...but the brown yes. how can one person love BROWN so much!?!?!?!??!?!

flowers, and dj's, and favors...oh my!!!

I'm feeling good about wedding planning.  i went home last week and got a lot done....florist, caterer, ring, etc.  for the most part, we're trying to work with people we know and trust, which is easing my mind.  i'm about to order invitations, put deposit on DJ,  and photog and i found my jewelry last night!  still looking for shoes but i'm close...narrowed it down to two choices i think......

_6089295.jpg216242.jpg

i need to keep the heel low and i was thinking a sliver wedge but now that we've decided to do the ceremony on the concrete...there's no worries of sinking into grass while walking.  my dress is ivory.
does anyone remember this?
post_1492157_1231797342_med.jpg
this was the look i thought i wanted with the statement necklace.....i haven't been able to find one but i found earrings at bloomingdales last night.  so i may just have to use this as inspiration and not an exact match. :)

i'm BAAAAAAAAAAACK!

i know i know, it's been a while....but we moved to a new state...GEO-gia!, set up house, explored new city, trying to plan wedding, etc etc.  this is going to be a long one....just to give updates, and i'm going to really try to stay on top this time.  so first things fist...
Augusta, GA.  it reminds me of baton rouge growing up...bigger than clarksville, tn not as big as atlanta.  we've discovered a few good eats....rhinehart's oyster bar....and LOTS of mountain biking trails.  btw, i'm an extreme adventurer now.  HA! background: back in clarksville, brett bought me a bike so we could ride together.  he ended up trading his road bike for a mountain bike and then we had to upgrade mine from a recreation bike to a mountain bike so i could keep up! there are a zillion trails here to discover so its been fun.  did ANYONE think that i, LINDSEY, would be an outdoorsy, trail riding kind of gal!?!??!?!  nope, me either.  i was doing so well....until last monday.  there was this bridge thingy with bricks and i crashed.  not like flew over handle bars, but couldn't get up without help b/c i was IN the woods.  then i started riding scared so i had minor incidents after that and now my legs look like....let's just say bad.  have i mentioned i bruise easily???  its fun though and its something that brett and i enjoy doing together.  hooray for family time!

Next, wedding.  i guess me blogging about wedding stuff will be therapeutic and maybe it'll help someone down the road.  in our group of friends, no one has ventured into a planning everything backyard wedding event so this is unchartered territory.  it's going to be at Sandy and Josie Macmurdo's house in baton rouge.  gorgeous house with grand yard, ponds, oak trees, the works.  i'm heading into town this week to do some marathon planning.  we need to decide where to have ceremony in the front yard, where to put what for reception, florist, cake, dj, caterer, haircut, and brett's sisters wedding may 8th. whew! i'm going some things myself, like most of the flowers....my bouquet i'll have made.  i got a steal of a wedding dress (!!!!) after falling in love with a way too expensive number.  i think i know my shoes, about to order invites, and the 50 meetings this week.  i'll update soon!!!!

hurley man is going great!  loving his new backyard but missing his doggy dates at the apartment.  i need to make a bestie who has a dog so he'll have a PIC.  there's only so much fetch he wants to play....which by the way he is doing PHENOM at.  especially in water.  we took him to the savannah river yesterday and he fetched in and out of water for at least an hour!!  and he was still raring to go but i was getting grumpy-hungry so we left. he's growing so much!!!!!

and I GOT A JOB!!!  hurray!!  i'll be doing client relations/sales at a laser hair removal spa.  it'll be nice to start up working again....i'm getting bored.  there's only so much wedding planning i can do from 10 hours away.
please stay tuned....i'd like to think i'm writing all this for SOMEONE out there?
can i say i'm so excited to see that j.peirce/samet has started blogging again??!?!?!?  love.  and of course sari.  and now kelly!  woah, love it.

E-N-G-A-G-E-D!

that's right ladies and gents....or the two followers i have....brett and i are engaged!  it was wonderful and perfect and we are so excited.  i'm pretty surprised to see how interested he is in plans...not interested in the color scheme, mind you....but just wondering what i'm thinking.  so here's my plan: new orleans-y, brickwalls/courtyard, candles everywhere, casual, laid back wedding/ceremony  at the same venue type of night.  right now, i'm thinking latrobe's on royal, rosy's jazz hall, and board of trade of new orleans.  i was NOT aware of how much venues cost.....yawwwza!  anyways, i'm really feeling like i need to fly home soon and book a place asap.  that way everything else can just fall into place.  if anyone has ANY suggestions, feel free to speak up.
so that's what's going on now....
other than that, brett and i are making the move to augusta, ga april 1st for his army career course.  i'm excited but so sad to leave my job.  i love it and the girls that work there so much.  definitely ready to know where we're going to be after this...i'm mean, who doesn't know where they're going to live in 6 months!  yeesh! oh well, its an army life for me :)

hurly is doing well....and by well i mean acting out like a 15year old girl.  sometimes he is so good and does exactly what we say, and 2 hours later he ignores us and runs away and forgets everything we've taught him.  hopefully once we have a yard for him to run around in, he'll calm down.  ahhh, wishful thinking.

2010

HELLOOOOO! ( to those seinfeld watchers)
wow, it's been awhile...i'm very sorry for abandoning the.....2 followers.  i'm sure life was hard to deal with during my absence.
am i the only one who is baffled it is 2010....and FEBRUARY!!  its going to be summer by the time we blink.  i sound like my grandma when i say that but seriously.  we just had a huge snow storm and the novelty of playing in the snow wore off about 1/2 into day 2.  hurley loves snow....eating it, rolling in it, digging in it, etc.  brett and i along with a couple neighbors used the tops to long tupperware containers to sled down the hills at our apartment...very fun.  again, it wore off after about 1 hour.  i guess i should get used to it b/c its supposed to snow again this weekend.  yay.

in other news, we're trying to prep for our move in april to augusta.  i'm started to gather boxes from the winery....and oh did i mention, brett wants us to move ourselves.  i thought he was joking but no.  it sort of makes sense but i'm hoping having friends will come in handy!  pizza and beer for everyone who helps!!!  this way our stuff arrives with us when we want it.  if the army moves us, we could be sitting on the floor playing battle for a couple weeks.  yikes.  stay tuned for what's sure to be an adventure.

speaking of adventure, brett and i went skiing over xmas.  we decided after a 10hr drive to and from louisiana, we wanted to drive another 10 hrs to snowshoe, west virginia.  it was so fun and i missed skiing so i'm glad we went....but 40 hours in the car in a little over a week is not the best idea.  we both made it out alive though!  i guess we are made for each other :) and i'm not the easiest person to be with on a road trip.  i like to sing and dance to stay alert while driving....this trip lady gaga was on the radio a lot!  i loved it.  brett was less than enthused.  i also like to stock up on gas food yummies like gummy bears and coffees and icees (i.e. like the many trips back and forth from houston to BR/NOLA with jaime and co.) this also leads to more stops than a man would like but to each his own!!!

on an ending note.....is anyone watching project runway???  can i just say Ping is a complete weird-beard crazy pants!  ok i'm done.
